Without any further details on how they differ, it's hard for me to make a
recommendation.

Generally we like to match IE if it has behavior that's reasonable, since it
has the largest market share and so sites probably conform to its
idiosyncrasies. But there are exceptions and this could be one of those
depending on what the differences are. This may have already been explored by
folks working on HTML5, so please take a look to see if that specification says
anything.
