ok - i have a better idea.

let's start with something really small.  to which there can really be
no objections, because it is a start, and a stub, and contains
pretty much nothing.

if you are unable to provide me with proper guidance, guidance that would save
all of us a lot of time, i have to instead... "guess" what you want.

i decided against utilising a binary search (cut to 750 lines, review, cut to
375 lines, review, cut to 170 lines, review) and instead decided to take the
minimalist approach, to at least get started.

at any time, please feel free to provide guidance and feedback that will help,
in the long run, save you - and me - vast amounts of time.
