Sorry, I won't combine clean ups with real changes in the future. I'll see if I
can find somebody to review this, and if not, I'll resubmit the patch without
the clean up.

The new test will crash without this patch, and storage tests will fail. If
this is acceptable and will help with the review, please let me know and I'll
put it in a separate patch.
