My two cents:

Thanks for the bug report, Donnie!  I believe mdimport and mds are Spotlight
background processes that index your hard drive.  I don't believe they have
anything to do with Safari or its performance, though.  I'd suggest either
disabling Spotlight indexing or leaving your Mac on until it finishes indexing.
