Thank you for the response.  I have filed a report with Apple's bug reporter. 
For the record, it's rdar://problems/4618792 (I believe that is the correct
format for internal bug references, though I have no access to this myself).

I do think that the behavior is incorrect, because Paste and Match Style does
not seem to be available in Crash Reporter, where I originally wanted to paste
the URL, and I'm not sure which 'style' I'm supposed to be matching when
pasting a URL.
