Actually I found this interesting thread:

So, please someone tell me if I'm wrong but it seems it is up to the
browser to support (or not) the various media containers/codecs.

I think the unsupported-rtsp.html test is a consequence of
https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26416

And in the media player code of the mac port I see it is indeed disabled
"for now" by checking the uri scheme.

So, since GStreamer supports rtsp/rtp (granted that the plugins are
available) I see no reason why the WebKitGTK+ media player wouldn't
support it as well ;)
