  A couple more incantations that I tried and that didn't help:

- copied debug CRT libraries to C:\Program Files\Safari and to
WebKitBuild\bin
- ran msiexec /i Microsoft_VC80_DebugCRT_x86.msm from C:\Program
Files\Common Files\Merge Modules.
