We are willing to let others maintain release branches for non-Apple
releases. On the other hand, there are many technical difficulties
with trying to do such a thing. For example, due to WebKit's reliance
on OS internals, it's almost certain that such a release wouldn't run
on future major OS releases from Apple. We are trying to reduce SPI
reliance over time though.

We use a branch for our software updates.
