Portable KWQ classes / files

This thread (if ur mail client is lucky, it does do threading ;)) can be used for now for a list of portable KWQ classes / files. KWQCString.mm is portable (once converted to C++, which means a .cpp extension with #imports changed to #includes). This definely goes to /common once the layout is changed.

Possible webkit.opendarwin.org page

Possible webkit.opendarwin.org page: A list of what files should be made portable C++ and what files should be moved to Cocoa in the KWQ library. This will make it alot easier to determine which files us porters should be trying to rewrite from scratch and what files we should be attempting to make cross-platform.

away for two weeks

My apologies for doing this in the public mailing list, but since I've been doing so much patch reviewing, committing, and build system changes in the past few weeks I figured I should announce this. I'll be mostly away from my computer for two weeks, so you won't see me doing much if anything on the WebKit Open Source Project. So if I'm not answering your emails or responding to your comments in bugs, that's why. I'll be back on July 18. -- Darin

Some thoughts on cross-platformness

My suggestion: All common and win32 KWQ C++ code should use .cpp instead of .mm, this makes it alot easier to work with on Win32 (I don't know about other platforms, but Visual C++ automatically knows the .cpp and .cxx extensions, but has no idea what the heck .mm is)

Bug severities in Bugzilla

Hi all, Over the last few weeks i've been doing some QA work and there's one thing that strikes me about bugzilla (among others actually, but i'll just address one here now ;) ). When you file or edit a bug, you can set the severity. The current list of severity levels is: - blocker - critical - major - normal - minor - trivial - enhancement This doesn't work for me, and as i see nobody hardly ever changing it, i think it doesn't for most people. Maciej gave me the list used in Apple Radar: - Security - Performance - Crash or Data Loss - Serious Bug - Other Bug - Feature (New) - Enhancement This works a lot better for me. Perhaps we should use this list of severities? Any ideas on that? Next to that, i think all you people should read this: http:// tieguy.org/talks/OLS-2003-html/img0.html , a presentation called "How GNOME Learned to Stop Worrying and Love The Bug". Not because we're doing so badly, but because it's good to read about stuff like this by experienced people :). Hi, Not sure why it would stop the code being build-able (obviously cannot open 2.1 project on Panther), but if the project was setup to have different build OS Targets using OS SDK's, wouldn't that be workable ? Nightly Builds

Has anyone considered setting up a nightly build system? This could easily be maintained by one of the main WebKit devs or anyone else reliable for that matter. It would take the CVS code from that day, build it, and put it up on the server so anyone in the dev community could download and test. This would allow for a much greater testing and QA community. You would no longer have to be a building whiz to pitch in and help test and file. Also, for anyone who uses Firefix or Caminknight, the maker of these two programs has one ready for the day Safari does nightly builds. We just need the URL. This program could, when installed, automatically fetch the latest nightly build and install it on a tester's machine. Anyone wiling to help implement and maintain nightly builds (not me, I'm far from knowledgeful enough to). Thanks.
