Good point.
The HMAC APIs have been added in 1.6.0:
<a href="http://git.gnupg.org/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=libgcrypt.git;a=commit;h=fcd6da37d55f248d3558ee0ff385b41b866e7ded">http://git.gnupg.org/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=libgcrypt.git;a=commit;h=fcd6da37d55f248d3558ee0ff385b41b866e7ded</a>
Digest APIs are way older, from 1999:
<a href="http://git.gnupg.org/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=libgcrypt.git;a=commit;h=98f4d26ffe97e99d9f9bd5dc58d9f511d9e64514">http://git.gnupg.org/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=libgcrypt.git;a=commit;h=98f4d26ffe97e99d9f9bd5dc58d9f511d9e64514</a>
I'll require 1.6.0 then, released in December 2013</pre>
