<pre>Instead of having a single function to do the size adjustment, we can have two functions: one for incrementing the size of the allocated memory by an unsigned and the other for decrementing the size of the allocated memory by an unsigned as well. This will remove the need to cast from unsigned to signed in many places.</pre>
