I just talked to a firefox dev about this. Due to the design of modern browsers this bad practice can not be expected to work.

Its an example from one of many books teaching one javascript. It looks like all of the older books are going to have to be updated as modern browsers don't interpret like the old ones do. Css, Javascript etc have their own process instead of the old html 4 days.</pre>
