Thanks for checking Karl. I have reported the same on Firefox https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1950671. I don't see why tab characters are trimmed in such cases. It could be a bug on Chromium but on Chromium the results make more sense and align with my expectations at least.

It's worth noting that this behaviour is only when contenteditable="plaintext-only" if we use other value e.g. "true" then the tabs are trimmed
