After this is closed I may open related-issue about discovery problems, like 120Hz displays running in 60Hz mode.
Such as a permission-request to access 120Hz+ functionality (if it exists) rather than forcing user to change an advanced-menu setting. Any webpage with a large same-origin canvas (e.g. not an ad banner) should request permission for >60fps, to make it easier for users.
"Webpage is requesting permission to use high frame rate (ProMotion) animations. This may consume more battery power. Allow? Yes/No"
Even if Apple's own privacy rules means I can't discover its existence before user grants permission (like the fullscreen-mode permission request, or the notifications-allow permission request).
But that's a different UX ballpark warranting a new opened webkit issue.
