--- Comment #2 from Andreas Pehrson <apehrson at mozilla.com> ---
In cubeb-coreaudio-rs, the audio backend we use in Gecko (Firefox), I have blocklisted Studio Display from being used with VoiceProcessingIO when used for both input and output: https://github.com/mozilla/cubeb-coreaudio-rs/commit/b7127b7c500490c56236a7fbbdb20fa1b8c6d009

I'll also note there was another issue with Studio Display's Mic filed with us, see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1874789.

It occurs with the VoiceProcessingIO audio unit when studio display is used for both input and output, and vpio is in bypass mode with AGC disabled.
Lots of clipping occurs on the mic audio even before handed to the application via the input callback. With AGC enabled there is no clipping, but low-volume background noise is instead amplified quite a bit.
Without vpio it is fine with no clipping, and background noise at levels you'd expect.

This can be tested with a manual test in the cubeb-coreaudio-rs repo, if the blocklist is disabled by running:
> cargo test test_stream_tester -- --ignored --nocapture
