Bug ID: 275773
Summary: [GTK] Search results in Dark mode have low contrast
Product: WebKit
Version: Other
Hardware: Unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P2
Component: WebKitGTK
Assignee: webkit-unassigned at lists.webkit.org
Reporter: dpa-webkit at aegee.org

In Epiphany/46.0, Evolution/3.53 with WebKitGTK 2.44.2, any webkit2-gtk/Minibrowser 2.44.2 when I search for text, all occurrences are highlighted in yellow background, but the current one is in grey background. By default the text (foreground) is black, and all the unselected background is white, so the contrast for the current search result is good.
When I change the Desktop to Dark mode, Epiphany and Evolution start utilizing the default background with black and the font for text in white. The current found result is highlighted in grey, instead of the default black background. This is visually hardly recognizable, since the difference between the grey (highlighted search result) and black (default background) is very subtile. At the same time, yellow background on white foreground makes remaining occurrences of the search results also unreadable.
• Change the default colour in Dark Mode for current search selection from grey to something else, which has higher contrast to black, and for the remaining search results from yellow to something else, which has higher contract to white.
On this occasion Firefox uses green and pink.
This is not reproducible in the MiniBrowser, as it does not switch to Dark Mode.
