Managed Media Source has been functional in all iOS 17 beta and was available at WWDC
What is changing in iOS 17.1 is that Managed Media Source is enabled by default.

Apparently we had a bit of a mix-up in our production configuration, and a system API Safari relies on for MMS/MSE to work was disabled in customer release.

This has been corrected.
