is a flaky crash on macOS wk2.

Looking at the history this appears to impact both intel and Apple Silicon Macs. However, the crashes do appear to be more frequent on Apple Silicon than they do on Intel. There was no crashlog/assertion/message gathered for this crash so I am going to attempt to reproduce it.
