Something like this:

<!DOCTYPE html>

<audio controls>
  <source src="horse.ogg" type="audio/ogg">
  <source src="horse.mp3" type="audio/mpeg">
Your browser does not support the audio element.

<video muted controls>
<source src="horse.mp3" type="audio/mpeg">

const video = document.createElement('video');
video.src = 'horse.mp3';
video.loop = true;
video.muted = true;
const check = () => {
  setTimeout(check, 1000);

I tested and I get '0' multiple events in Safari 16.6, STP175 and Chrome Canary 117, or am I testing it wrong?
