Created attachment 462862

rendering in safari, firefox, chrome

To isolate a bit more.
data:text/html,<meta%20charset="utf-8">
◂%20▸

Safari: Times, different sizes
Firefox: STIXGeneral, different sizes,
Chrome: Menlo, same size

If I set Menlo for Safari, it shows the same size.

It depends on the fonts being used.
I don't think there is anything to do here.
