The following "contain" tests also fail due to the intrinsic margins:
imported/w3c/web-platform-tests/css/css-contain/contain-size-button-001.html
imported/w3c/web-platform-tests/css/css-contain/contain-size-button-002.html

in bug 238587, I traced it all the way back to r10888 
see:
"This was introduce at r10888 with the idea of "With this landing both <input type=button> and <button> will now look like OS X-style widgets." and maybe we should check if this is still the desired approach for our form controls."
