Just wanted to share updated test results:

*** Safari Technology Preview 159 ***

Caret after "b" and press "backspace", keep on deleting > till it reaches a and then it becomes "ab".

*** Chrome Canary 110 ***

Caret after "b" and press "backspace", keep on deleting > till it reaches a and then it becomes "ab".

*** Firefox Nightly 109 ***

Get expected result and you are able to delete "b" and then it flip > to <.
