This one still keeps the focusout listener, however it's execution is wrapped in in setTimeout with a delay of 20ms. The issue is still reproducible for me on both osX and iPad.

I would expect that all browsers would have the same behavior for dealing with event listeners ;). Only Safari behaves differently here.
