A follow up on this: it apparently also happens on iPad: https://warehouse-theme-metal.myshopify.com/

If you do a search and then tap to click the search closes without following the link. Adding a delay on the focusout doesn't solve this issue.

I think there is definitely a big issue on how Safari handles tap to touch internally under some circumstances, I would really appreciate if this could be thoroughly investigated :).
