FWIW, I could not reproduce this using the version of Safari I have on my machine (roughly corresponding to the latest beta).

I think that this needs to be investigated by the QtWebKit project. If it's the one I've found on GitHub, it hasn't been active for 17 months, so it's not using a recent version of WebKit.
