We also need this feature! We have to maintain 2 brances of code and 2 media repositories: HLS for iOS Safari, MSE all the other browsers. This is pain. iOS users also get worse UX. Our app is video interviewing software and we compile interviewer's video on the fly. HLS seek is a lot slower than what we can achieve prefetching chunks and building stream with MSE.
