Firefox just announced (https://groups.google.com/g/mozilla.dev.platform/c/sZdEYTiEBdE/m/PbGpLjcqAQAJ) their intent to ship a fix for this for 'localhost' (127.0.0.1 is already treated as trusted, according to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=903966).

The Firefox bug for the new localhost fix is here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1488740. There's more feedback & use cases listed there that may be of interest.
