            Bug ID: 193870
Summary: Support .test tld for local development
           Product: WebKit
           Version: Safari Technology Preview
          Hardware: Macintosh
                OS: macOS 10.14
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Page Loading
          Assignee: webkit-unassigned at lists.webkit.org
          Reporter: chris at heavymark.com
                CC: beidson at apple.com

.dev it seems has been one of the most popular .tld's used by developers for local development even though of course there was always a chance that .dev could someday be used by actual sites.

With Google officially releasing that tld to the public next month, I assume there will be a mass exodus for users searching for a new .tld. It appears the recommended tld is actually .test which will always be available for that purpose: https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2606.

The problem is, when going to example.test it performs a search rather than attempting to load the site. Having to type a protocal each time or having to end with / is not ideal. Is there plans for Webkit to recognize .test to work as expected without workarounds in preparation for developers switching from .dev?
