I'm entirely not sure what your talking about here.  The CSS sidebar allows in-place editing of rule selectors and properties, and if you do want to edit it in the stylesheet (via the Resources tab), there is a link right next to the selector that will take you there.

Could you describe what it is that you are doing where it isn't working as you'd expect?  Most (if not all) browsers function in the same way.
