I have also encountered this issue when printing an MS Office documents from my canon printer - Printing notification was showing the wrong number of total printed pages. But there is no problem on the printout also I found that there is no pages number error when printing PDF files. then I got a reference of https://www.canonprintersupportnumbers.com/canon-printer-setup/ and this link was really helpful in resolving my issue.
