You would have to wait for the entire video to finish no ? I guess that wouldn't work with HLS videos either so live streaming. 

It has certainly caused problems for alot of people. The only work around for IOS is inside a Cordova app. 

Hopefully what I just said means Apple don't try and sabotage and block it. It doesn't do any CORS check whatsoever. Works with Mp4 and HLS. 

Please Apple and don't try and block that now ! 

This bug has been a problem for half a decade or more. It's just only that people are wanting to do 360 videos and webgl video textures it has come back to bite them. 

This is not a problem anymore on macOS. Have a look.
