            Bug ID: 173828
Summary: Japanese open parenthesis overlaps to following
character when OpenType "vhal" or "vpal" features are
                    applied in vertical writing mode.
           Product: WebKit
           Version: Safari 10
          Hardware: Unspecified
                OS: Unspecified
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Text

Steps to reproduce:

1. Install "Noto Serif CJK JP" from https://www.google.com/get/noto/
2. Open https://jsbin.com/duhayezuka/3/edit?html,css,output

Actual results:

"halt" and "palt" works correctly in horizontal writing mode.
However, when "vhal" or "vpal" are applied in vertical writing mode, the open parenthesis overlaps to the following character (please see the attached screenshot).

Environment:

Safari Version 10.1.1 (12603.2.4)
