Yes that is a standard procedure. CORS won't work over http / https. Has to be the same protocol. So that is a non issue. It's just IOS everyone is waiting on. 

I just tested again and Safari 10.1.2 and mac OS 10.12.6 is perfectly fine. 

If you mean 3 years since macOS then yes it was when that was fixed. 

You can see on my own feature and demos. same ssl protocol for site and streams on cloudfront.
