Bug ID: 175229
Summary: Resource Load Statistics: User interaction not
recorded towards user-selected search engine domain
when using the Smart Search Field
Product: WebKit
Version: WebKit Nightly Build
Hardware: Unspecified
OS: Unspecified
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P2
Component: WebCore Misc.
Assignee: webkit-unassigned at lists.webkit.org
Reporter: tstapleton at google.com

When a user types and executes a search query from the Safari Smart Search Field, the query is passed on to the search engine the user has defined in Safari preferences. The user interaction however is not recorded in resource load statistics toward the resulting search engine domain of their choice.
Given that performing a query through the Smart Search Field demonstrates the user’s intent to interact with the search engine, it seems appropriate for a user interaction to be recorded against the top privately controlled domain of the target search engine at the time of the query.
