A video exhibiting the behavior.

The default OS X select box paradigm allows for a click and drag motion to select text. Safari does not respect this paradigm. You must click, pause, then select. 

Additionally, the text MOVES when you click. It becomes a game of whack-a-mole because the text you intend to select moves.

I have attached a video of this behavior.
