           Version: 528+ (Nightly build)
          Hardware: Unspecified
                OS: Unspecified
            Status: NEW

(I couldn't find a public Safari-specific bug tracker so I'm filing the issue here.)

Short version: Please make Safari evergreen.

Longer version / reasoning:

I as web developer have to worry about / handle / support older Safari versions. This costs a lot of time which I'd rather spend working on the respective web app(!)

Users can get the latest version of Safari *if* they update to the latest Mac OS / iOS. Many user simply don't do that, or wait many months before updating their OS, thus web devs need to support older Safari versions. (or capability-detect -> exclude, which can't be in your interest.)

Please make Safari evergreen, so that it updates itself to the latest version, on all supported OSs and OS versions (at least several OS versions back), and on all popular devices.

This would for example ensure that all users have WebGL in Safari on all supported OSs and OS versions (incl OS X 10.9) and on all popular devices (incl older iPhones if possible.)

But currently some/many users still have Mac OS X 10.9, with Safari 7 instead of the latest version 8.
And some/many users still have iPhones with Safari 7.

I heard that you can get Safari 8 with WebGL support for OS X 10.9 - but it's just an option, which in reality some/many users don't do (I hadn't even known about that option). And especially updating the OS is something that many users might put off. Safari needs to update itself.

As a web dev I would like to rely on Safari to always keep itself up-to-date, no matter the OS version. Otherwise (if it requires intentional and self-initiated effort by the user) I have to test in older Safari versions and support (or exclude) those.
