here is a working example with the silly fallback hacks. 

It will replace the video with a "2D" version of the video, then a button will switch to the proxy source. 

as far as UI goes it as good as it gets rather than attempt to use the proxy source by default.

I hope this serious non compliant bug fix manages to find its way into OSX and Safari soon. 

How could something as important as this manage to be evaded for so many years I wonder ? 

BTW this bug tracker server is blocking my ip for some reason all of a sudden. I have to use a VPN to get access !
