I have to confirm that I cannot reproduce myself the bug  with Safari anymore: apologise for the confusion and the wasted time.

Regarding Chromium: it does preserve that status of standard HTML field. If I type something in the input text on the top right of the example code I attached, then click on the webkit link and then hit the back button the content of the text field is there.  Shouldn't the input field be empty in order to not keeping any state then?
