Summary: Return keystrokes in phpBB forcing all tabs to reload
Product: WebKit
Version: 528+ (Nightly build)
Platform: Macintosh Intel
OS/Version: Mac OS X 10.5
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: Critical
Priority: P2
Component: New Bugs
AssignedTo: webkit-unassigned at lists.webkit.org
ReportedBy: mableygreen at london.com
A persistent and duplicatable problem ...
Whilst editing a post in phpBB, two return keystrokes will force all the open tabs to reload losing whatever content was in the editing pane.
The Mac has more than adequate new and good free memory and is not paging out. Have tried all the obvious remedies such as reinstalling, removing any plugins etc.
The problem has only arisen since the division of Safari into two processes. Whereas I appreciate crashes do happen, despite the nature of the two processes, however it would be good if all content was not lost when they did.
I am an admin of a number of phpBB forums and so this is a blocker for me. Unfortunately, whereas I do have a good general knowledge of Mac OS and web applications, I have no idea where to start debugging this at an application level.
Obviously, the phpBB developers hold them hands up and pass the blame onto Webkit/Apple. They have no idea and it is not being reported on other platforms.
Any pointers would help.
It would be great for future developments if at least content was cached and not lost during accidental reloads.
Thank you
