Thanks for the tips! Here are some results I got:

JS - Safari TOT
    avg 253710.8 runs/s

CPP - Safari TOT
    avg 499435.80000000005 runs/s

That looks like the JS-based version is about 50% slower, not 30% faster. Am I misunderstanding the test or what the claim was?

I wanted to try the test in Chrome Canary but it doesn't seem to run there.
