I was able to bisect this problem down to http://trac.webkit.org/changeset/103290, and it doesn't seem flaky.

To reproduce, see crbug.com/102943.  (I have reproduced it consistently on mac)  At first the map markers are visible, but before the entire map is loaded, the map markers disappear.  Note that this is a secondary problem, different from the original bug.

I'm happy to try solving this, but I figured James may be able to solve it far more quickly since he knows this change.  If you want me to look into it, a hint/guess about where to look may be helpful.
