Summary: [Qt] Overlap between pages when paging down is too
                    great
           Product: WebKit
           Version: 528+ (Nightly build)
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: Unspecified
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: Enhancement
          Priority: P3
         Component: New Bugs
        AssignedTo: webkit-unassigned at lists.webkit.org
        ReportedBy: bugs at wormhole.me.uk

When paging down in the native KDE browsers, about five lines of the previous page are shown on the following page. I think five lines are too much, and it's difficult to pick up from where you left off. This is using Konqueror (with the WebKit KPart) and Rekonq. Using Konqueror with KHTML, the overlap is about one line, which I think doesn't distract from the flow of reading. (The overlap is also about one line in Firefox.)

Of course, the number of lines varies with the font size and screen resolution, but it's not too far wrong to talk about 5 and 1 generally.

WebKit increased the amount of overlap after https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32595, but Apple disagreed in https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34371 (as did others) and reverted the change for OS X.

Clearly there are different opinions, and if it's not possible to go with Apple and revert the change in WebKit generally, the obvious thing to do is to let the user decide. I asked about this in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=309431 and was referred here, so I'm asking. ISTM this would need an enhancement to the QtWebKit API, which would need an enhancement to the WebKit API.

So could the overlap between pages be user-configurable?
