I totally agree. One reason I can think of to have it be a separate script is to parse/filter old build logs. So, perhaps we refactor out all the similar logic into something like: (https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=67753) and have both build-webkit and filter-build-webkit (which should really be named filter-build-ouput/log or something) use the refactored code.
