Summary: Poor performance on loading & scrolling page with many
                    images (32200+)
           Product: WebKit
           Version: 528+ (Nightly build)
          Platform: Unspecified
        OS/Version: Unspecified
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Images
        AssignedTo: webkit-unassigned at lists.webkit.org
        ReportedBy: nickshanks at nickshanks.com

compressed HTML file

The attached file, which I created to help choose between some clip art icons, locks up the tab until it has finished loading and then is horrendously unresponsive when scrolling down (Lion, Safari 5.1.1). In Opera, scrolling is fast once the page has loaded, but tab is unresponsive during load. Page load takes about the same time as WebKit. Firefox loads the page in one tenth of the time, but is totally unresponsive during this period. After load, FF is then very responsive when scrolling.

Save the bzipped attachments locally, decompress them, and then open the HTML file.
