This is a good idea.

The search field is a Safari feature, not a WebKit one. I'm marking this bug INVALID as a non-WebKit issue (we only track WebKit bugs and enhancement requests here).

Please feel free to file a bug via <http://bugreport.apple.com> for Apple engineers working on Safari to be aware of this feedback.
