Yes, it does. I hadn't even realized that it was possible to search only for items that "start with" the search string. A usability issue perhaps: do most people expect the search to be set to "starts with" by default? 

It is interesting to note that Chrome and Firefox don't even allow you to search strings that "start with", as far as I can tell, so perhaps this functionality is superfluous and should be dropped, or at least not set by default.

This "bug report" can thus be changed to a feature request: "Set search to containts rather than starts with by default, and don't remember settings across sessions".
