There have recently been changes to the IDL files that removed the default optionality of function arguments.  The changes that resulted in changes to the DOM behavior should be reverted until we have had time to decide if that is the right change to make (it may not be, as throwing can be hazardous to a sites health) and if reapplied, should be supplemented with test cases, like all other changes in testable behavior should be.
