Reading comments in this bug, I struggle to understand what its relation to accessibility is. How does whatever WebKit displays for missing images affect users who need accessibility?

This seems to be a pure compatibility issue to me, and in cases where I see missing images on the Web, I would always prefer ALT text to not be displayed, in fact.
