I'm a bit confused by the plethora of comments, and the latest linked test case
doesn't seem to have pass/fail criteria spelled out.

It's no doubt possible to re-create the problem form the above description, but
it would be even better if you could attach a final test case with clear steps
to reproduce in Bugzilla.
