Yeah, this looks like the wrong fix.  If you're hitting those useTransforms
ASSERTS then some other part of the code is wrong.  We need a test case. 
Attaching a crashing stack trace to the bug would make it easier for me to
comment w/o reproducing locally. :)

Does this crash in release builds to?  In which case, then it's a P1. 
Reproducible crashers are P1.

CCing simon (who is the transforms guy) just so he can see this go by.
